In 2008, in cooperation with the Hungarian state, the Kovács Gábor Art Foundation started a new programme to build a collection of contemporary art that was to offer a comprehensive overview of Hungarian art through purchasing some of the best new works. Now comprising some 320 works, the collection represents the most important Hungarian oeuvres from the second half of the 20th century to the present.
