Date: 09/May/2013 - 07/July/2013

The Körmendi-Csák Twentieth Century Photography Collection is being introduced to the public for the first time through an exhibition of a selection of its artworks at the KOGART House on Andrássy út.

Visitors will get a glimpse into twentieth-century Hungarian photography through the 160 exhibited works of twenty-one photographers: Demeter Balla, András Bánkuti, Imre Benkő, Tamás Féner, Endre Friedmann, Miklós Gulyás, József Hajdú, László Haris, Károly Hemző, Judit M. Horváth, Péter Horváth, Antal Jokesz, Gábor Kerekes, Péter Kornis, György Stalter, András Szebeni, Lenke Szilágyi, Péter Tímár, László Török, Tamás Urbán and Magdolna Vékás. The selection showcases the unique vision of the second half of the century with the help of art photos in various genres ranging from documentary to avant-garde. This remarkable debut was organised by the Kovács Gábor Art Foundation and the Körmendi-Csák Collection. The exhibition occupies two floors of the building and invites visitors not only to marvel at the artworks but also to explore the careers of these photographers and to learn detailed information about the background of the artworks and the creative process. Providing further help in this is a lavishly illustrated 420-page exhibition catalogue that introduces the Körmendi-Csák Photography Collection with texts in both Hungarian and English.

The photographs for the exhibition and the catalogue were selected with the help of photo museologist Károly Kincses, former director of the Mai Manó Hungarian House of Photography.
